Our place in Scouting

Scouting is the largest youth organisation in the World.

The scout movement was conceived and brought to life by Robert Baden-Powell in the UK at the start of the 20th Century. Scouting is now active in over 200 countries and territories and Worldwide has a global membership of over 28 million.

Along with five other scout groups, the 1st Chalfont St Peter Group is part of the Misbourne Valley District. The District promotes activities and competitions for Beaver, Cub and Scout units and provides forums for sharing knowledge and expertise between leaders.

The Misbourne District is one of twelve within Buckinghamshire County. The County organisation runs county-wide camps and activities (notably an annual “Water Weekend” at Longridge, Marlow) and manages leader training and support.

It will be obvious how Buckinghamshire fits into the national scouting movement.
