About Beavers

Beaver Scouts are aged between 6 – 8 years old. They belong to the first and youngest section in the scouting family. They wear turquoise sweatshirts, long trousers and our Group scarf.  Beavers enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They meet together once a week during term time in a Beaver Scout Colony.

Our Beaver Scouts participate in a range of activities.  The emphasis has shifted from a badge and award driven culture to one that provides Beavers with a variety of experiences and challenges that they don’t get at school, and in a team/sharing environment.

Beaver scouting starts the Scouting ethos of ‘Be Prepared’. They do hands-on activities, start to anticipate problems, work outdoors when possible and take the first steps to becoming self-sufficient.

There is a waiting list for joining Beavers. Please contact the Membership Secretary (details here) after your child has reached 4 years’ old.

We have two Beaver Colonies in Chalfont St Peter:

  • Riverbank Colony     Saturday morning (During Term) 9 am – 10 am
  • Dambusters Colony  Thursday evening 6pm – 7 pm
