Suspension of face-to-face activities
Following guidance from Scout HQ, all face-to-face Scout meetings, activities and events must be suspended from Tuesday, 17 March 2020. This suspension applies to young people and adults, and will be until further notice.
We will continue to follow official guidance; the safety of everyone involved in Scouts, both young people and adults, is our number one priority. That is always at the heart of our decision making.
About our group
We are a large and friendly Scout Group and are actively involved in events hosted by Misbourne District, and the Buckinghamshire Scout County.
The group has Beaver, Cub and Scout sections and our headquarters host the Illustrious Explorer Unit.
The group caters for young people aged 6 – 14 years:-
- Two Beaver Scout Colonies for children aged 6 – 8 years
- Three Cub Scout Packs for those aged 8 – 10½ year
- Two Scout Troops for 10½ – 14 year olds
There are between 20 and 30 children in most sections, with a mix of boys and girls throughout the age range. The emphasis throughout all sections is to have fun whilst being challenged in hands-on activities they don’t get to do at school.
Interaction with others is important, as is a range of outdoor activities that promotes an interest and understanding in nature and the countryside. Did we mention having fun? Participation is important too. Scouting is a youth-led organisation, so development of leadership potential and working with others are common themes.
1St Chalfont St Peter Scout Group works closely with the village Guide Group and share a legendary biennial Group Camp with all sections across Scouting and Guiding. You will see us in the village at Feast day and the Christmas Fun Night (running the BBQ), in the Remembrance Sunday Parade and running the popular village Christmas Post card delivery service. Our biggest community event of the year is our annual bonfire and fireworks display.
